The lunatics are taking over the asylum! Or a bit of it at least. This year Glade is offering three £1,000 grants and a handful of backstage tickets to people who would like to produce their own area at this year's event.

"We are looking for people with creative ideas who think differently and can bring off-the-wall, kooky ideas to Glade. Stuff that's interactive and gets people creatively involved in the festival," said Nick Ladd, Glade Festival Creative Director. "We’ve been going to Burning Man for the last few years and the show there is 100% generated by the people that attend the festival. As a result, the creative diversity is mind boggling, so we are bringing a bit of that vibe to the UK to see what ideas people have got buried in the surrealist depths of their minds. We can't wait to see what people come up with!"

"We have always seen Glade as an interactive experience and this is taking that ethic to the next level. Anybody can now become part of the Glade's future creative direction and we invite people to let their imaginations run wild and come and join us in making Glade happen."

Glade also announced its new Glade Union program, a student ambassador scheme which sees Glade recruit students as marketing partners to help promote the event and sell tickets at their respective universities on a commission basis. Glade will be working with Bristol, Bath, Southampton, Portsmouth, Exeter, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Cardiff and Oxford Brookes universities as part of the scheme, and all student applicants are invited to join the selection process by going to gladefestival.com/students and completing an application. "Any students interested in events, promotion, festivals and marketing generally, should be up for it," said Nick Ladd. "There's a fat bonus scheme for the most successful reps and it's a great shout for anyone wanting to get some money together for their annual summer break."

Students can also get their hands on a £2,000 arts bursary to be awarded to the best proposal for a site art installation that will be built at Glade 2010. "Glade is renowned for having some of the best art at any UK festival and this is a great opportunity for art students to merge their college art project with Glade and cop a nice bit of cash in the process." said Ladd. Application forms can be downloaded from gladefestival.com/students.

After the success of last year's event at Matterley Bowl and stellar acts such as ORBITAL, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO and TRICKY already confirmed, this year's Glade Festival should be bigger and better than any of their previous events as they pull out all the stops for 2010.

Glade now enters its seventh year – described as "Like Glastonbury for electronic music lovers", it continues to evolve as a unique hybrid between a rave and a fully fledged English festival. With all 500 early-bird tickets having already sold out they have kicked things off in style with the launch of a redesigned, revamped new website. For a limited period only there are also a number of discount student tickets at £110 – instead of the usual £135 available from gladefestival.com.
