Review: 'Mountain Bird'
'Violent Night'

-  Label: 'Universal Music'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '6th April 2013'

Our Rating:
Recently signed to Universal Music, Swedish act Mountain Bird are certainly getting the full froth when it comes to the promo, which describes them as the label’s ‘hottest new artists’ and ‘an ambitious dream-pop act’ before waxing lyrical about the single’s ‘distant and ethereal production filled with atmospheric layers of guitars, pianos and synthesizers’ and the song’s ‘eerie hauntology and concentrated pop splendor.

What’s pleasing to report is that ‘Violent Night’ does everything you’d want it to: it drifts, glides, it soars, it has a surging chorus that’s delicate and fragile yet urgent behind the washes of reverb-soaked guitar and synths. It’s very good, even if it has all been done before.
