Review: 'COUNT TO FIRE'
'On Your Side'

-  Label: 'Neo music'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '17th March 2014'-  Catalogue No: 'NEO0314CD'

Our Rating:
That the press release for these as mild-as-it-gets British country wimps name-checks Mumford and Sons not once but twice. This is a good indicator that Count To Fire have set the temperature gauge at tepid and aren't likely to reach warm any time soon.

The opener A Room is beige country music that wants to be thought of as nice so badly it's tragic. The Shame is shamefully bland for a song about shame with an awful "ooh ooh-ing" chorus that makes it hard to want to listen much further.

By Carry You, I'm starting to wonder how bland your life would need to be to want to listen to this album. It is so insipid and Will Odgers' vocals just seem to grate in their inoffensive-as- all-hell way. Yes she's leaving you because she's bored to tears, so get over it!

Pictures On the Wall makes me wonder what on earth could be considered refreshing and cut-throat about this lot. The press release claims this band is edge-y, yet their edge is so blunt I doubt they could cut a chocolate mousse.

The rest of the album is just one wash of awful, insipid I-can't- wait-for-it-to-stop, far too nice for its own good mulch. Yes, it's pretty well played and produced by the brilliantly named Jolyon Holroyd, but please make it be over soon. This album drags like they are all on mogadon. The 40 minutes feels like 3 hours it's so slow. I'm sure they are nice blokes but please don't make me listen to them again.

Oh and the final song on this abomination of a borefest. It is so slow and bland to be a new low point, I hope it doesn't happen for Count To Fire as I'm not on their side. Just say no more. Exeter is welcome to keep them as a local secret.
