Review: 'Council Tax Band'
'Flumes'

-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '14th April 2014'

Our Rating:
Council Tax Band – geddit? – hail from Bedford and boast a lineup consisting of two guitars, analogue synth, drums and no small amount of righteous indignation. Perhaps more importantly they’ve previously released a split EP with Ice, Sea, Dead People, who also hail from Bedford and make one hell of a racket.

‘Flumes’ is a gruff, indie-punk tune that rants about St Albans District Council. Who said today’s musicians are out of touch? CTB embody the spirit of punk, and there’s no questioning their political engagement in this angular protest song about the redevelopment of their local swimming pool. Needless to say, they’re not happy about how it’s been dealt with by the useless, cretinous bureaucrats, although they’ve every reason to be pleased with this single.
