Review: 'Falls'
'Dirtbox EP'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th April 2014'

Our Rating:
‘Thrash Hits’ – whoever they may be – describe Falls as ‘Pulled Apart By Horses meets Baby Godzilla’. This is a pretty keen recommendation, and while lead track ‘Hammers?’ might not be quite as full-tilt as PABH at their manic screaming best or as frenzied as Baby Godzilla, it’s still a pretty intense blast of guitar-driven noise. It’s also reminiscent of These Monsters’ latest album, and on top of all that manages to drag in some incongruously smooth Prince-like funk before detonating sky-high. It’s no mean feat, and sure, ‘Man Bites Cobra to Death’ may seem like a second-rate reference to both PABH’s ‘I Punched A Lion in the Throat’ and The Icarus Line’s ‘Feed a Cat To Your Cobra’, but its sonic force is inarguable.

High-octane, highly unpredictable and highly crazed, Falls are clearly as wild as their press pic suggests (maybe one day they’ll regret that shot, who knows) and the ‘Dirtbox EP’ bounds from one thunderous riff to another, the vocals leaping from the measured to the manic. And that’s gotta be worth two thumbs up.
