Review: 'Ampline / Alone at 3AM'
'Split 7”'

-  Label: 'SofaBurn Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '14th April 2014'

Our Rating:
Ampline’s ‘Stab’ begins with a brooding bass and piano that cascades down into a pool of mellowness, it suddenly explodes to life in the shape of a Fugazi-esque punk chug. A song of two distinct halves, it’s an exhilarating rush of a song, and it’s not hard to see how they’ve scored a slot on tour supporting Mike Watt & The Missing Men (of the Minutemen)

Alone at 3AM present a very different musical face, ‘Upside’ is a harmonious, melodic country rocker, anguished shades of melancholy reflect on the trials of life and being broke. It has a heartfelt sincerity and a worldweary longing that’s hard to deny, and does very much follow I the style of the likes of Lucero and Gaslight Anthem.

Very much a record of two halves, this is exactly what the split single is all about.
