Review: 'ELWINS, THE'
'Sittin' Pretty'

-  Label: 'Affairs Of The Heart'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '26th May 2014'

Our Rating:
The Elwins are a Canadian indie rock band who have just finished recording their sophomore album.

This single is taken from their debut long player ‘And I Thank You’ and it has a real summer vibe to it. Guitars jangle and chime and the singer gurns all the way to an unexpected appearance on TOTP. Leastways, that’s what used to happen.

“Are you waiting for the right time? Looking for a hand to hold? Still you got a question. Another secret left untold”. It ticks all the right boxes on the classic pop song check list and squeezes all it’s undoubted charm comfortably into the allotted three minutes. In fact it’s so ‘studied’ I should probably hate it but I don’t. I like it a lot but what really stops me falling in love with it is how much it reminds me of Birdhouse In Your Soul by They Might Be Giants. Still, there are worse songs you could copy, all things considered.
