Review: 'Dog Legs / Mannequin Pussy'
'Sorrythankssorry'

-  Label: 'Crumb Cabin'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '18th August 2014'

Our Rating:
This is FUN! Dog legs – a trashy, tinny Brighton-based duo with a glorious grunge-pop sensibility occupy the first half of this split release. The brilliantly brash thrash of ‘Toot Toot HEY!’ fires it all off, and the simple riff of ‘Sorry’ ligs off Nirvana’s ‘About a Girl’ and ‘Sliver’. Theirs is a truly lo-fi racket, clattering drums played with an irrepressible exuberance, and a thrift store guitar played through a 10-watt practice amp on the brink of explosion. Their eponymous track / theme tune stalks along with a cocksure strut, while their cover of Mannequin Pussy’s ‘My Baby Axe Nice’ is a choppy blast of treble that’s truly joyous – and a serious bloody racket to boot.

For their part, Mannequin Pussy turn up the amps and turn up the fuel for a full-sounding yet nevertheless budget, toppy din, high-octane guitar drive indie pop. ‘Meatslave One’ is a positively frenetic blast of treble and ‘Program’ ups the tempo and energy levels further.

Music this direct, this full of life isn’t only life-affirming, but positively cleansing. Drink it up and enjoy.
