Review: 'CRINGE, THE'
'Finally Gonna Be On Your Own (Live)'

-  Label: 'Sony/Red'
-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '5th August 2014'

Our Rating:
So Does this one song single by The Cringe make me Cringe? Well, a little bit as any single recorded live while a band are the opening act for Steel Panther at Brixton Academy might make me cringe. Nothing against Steel Panther, mind, other than being a one trick pony.

Anyway, only having one song to go on, The Cringe sound like a mid 70's AOR band with a bit of the Barclay James Harvest meets Blue Oyster Cult about them.

Yes they feature James Rotundi who used to be in Mr Bungle and the single is very catchy indeed. But not having heard the band's 4 albums I can only guess at the huge middle of the road metal sound they are going for. This is very well played but due to having been recorded live comes across as sounding almost like a demo rather than the cruising down a highway style rocker it has obviously been written to be.
