West My Friend are a Canadian quartet conceived over tea and cakes in Victoria, Vancouver.
Their second album is a jaunty collection of show tunes replete with light-hearted and whimsical reflections of the big, bad world.
The songs implicitly or overtly reject of the harshness and unreliability of modern life in favour of some imaginary fairy tale kingdom where lovers live on the moon (My Lover) and spiders are "fearless and carefree" (Lady Doubt).
Eden Oliver is the main vocalist and has the type of voice that continues to sound chirpy even when she is singing of "the mess I'm in" (Troubles).

Bright and breezy orchestral arrangements, and brass band trappings enhance the traditional chamber-folk acoustic instrumentation of accordion, mandolin and double bass.
The penultimate track is a toe-tapping tune called Dark And Deep; light and shallow would be a more accurate title.
