Review: 'ROW BOAT'
'Romantic (EP)'

-  Label: 'Fluttery Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '19th September 2014'

Our Rating:
‘Romance’ was the 2009 debut of one man composer Mark Wardale, a Yorkshireman inspired by the landscapes and music of Scandanavia.

His Row Boat alter ego is a rough translation of a Sigur Rós track (Ára bátur) and he is now thought of more as a guitar orientated post-rock artist.

Fluttery Records have decided to re-release this E.P to remind listeners of his abstract ambient roots and put his romantic vision into full perspective.

The four instrumental tracks, each about 5 minutes long, are full of "glistening xylophones & violins, abundant textures and lots of horns".

They blend together so seamlessly it is perhaps more accurate to call it a 20 minute overture.

If, like me, you are a sucker for anything of a Nordic flavour, Row Boat is an artist you'll be glad to discover.
