Having established themselves as a quality live act, it makes sense for Wille and the Bandits to release a live album. No question, the 16 cuts here demonstrate what the band does best: kick out rollicking gritty electric blues.
They’re straight in with some wicked slide guitar breaks on ‘Keep Your Head Up’ and it’s immediately apparent that these guys have got game. ‘Gypsy Woman’ is a proper thumping grungeout, and the dirty great grind of ‘Virgin Eyes’ is an all-out slow rocker, hard and heavy, before exploding into something altogether spacier. It’s six and a half minutes of musical magnificence. The hollerin’ frenzy of ‘Chillout’ is an exhilarating rush of rock action and the gritty boogie of ‘Galloping Horses’ is hard to resist.

When they slow it down and strip it back, as on ‘Mammon’, the musicianship is delicate and sensitive, and perfectly in keeping with Wille Edwards’ voice, which is cracked with emotion and longing.
In all, a great album that captures a consummate live band giving it 100% and says they’ll be well worth checking out of they’re playing nearby. And with a UK tour under way, the chances are they will be very soon...
