If it’s minimal drone and ambience you are interested in then look no further than Cestine and this ltd edition cassette of two fifteen minute tracks. Looks like they are doubling up on their allotment of fame!
It is really difficult to come up with words to describe this music other than minimal ambient drone, I mean how do you differentiate one drone from another? However, this seems to come from the lighter, more airy end of the spectrum. Other Half is really just glacial washes moving in and out, and in the last quarter this is augmented with some field recordings. Possibly birds and microphone noise which the track then finishes on.
Bright Encounter is the better track for me as it includes more field recordings/samples of the verbal kind which are warped and fed through the track. The keyboard motif is also stronger and more recognisable. Furthermore the piece has a sense of place due to the use of seashore wave crashes of the gentle kind. Around nine minutes all this disappears to be slowly replaced by something much more cavernous, for reasons unbeknownst to me. Altogether it has less drone and more movement than Other Half.

To return to my earlier question I think I can answer it best by saying, stop reading me droning on and on and go and listen to Cestine. It’s really quite good.
