Review: 'SVARTA STUGAN'
'EP3 Aspects Of Our Future Selves'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '17th October 2014'

Our Rating:
Aspects Of Our Future Selves completes a "twee-noise" EP trilogy from a Swedish trio whose key inspirations derive from Bladerunner and Twin Peaks. Damn Good Coffee is an obvious reference to the latter.

The six short instrumental pieces here are more suited for short sequences than longer cinematic scenes.

As you might expect, an overriding synthy spookiness characterises the record although the inclusion of some frenzied drumming and wild sax-playing by special guest Christopher Thorén on Drums In The Light Of Christ and Un-Birth also adds a down-to-earth free-jazz dimension.

In just a little over a quarter of an hour the band cover a lot of ground but as with EP2 I'd love to hear them go for the jugular with extended workouts.
