Review: 'Flayed'
'Symphony for the Flayed'

-  Album: 'Symphony for the Flayed' -  Label: 'Klonosphere Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock'

Our Rating:
With a swirling Hammond organ piping around some rock-solid riffs, Flayed know how to do that gritty blues-rock boogie. ‘Symphony for the Flayed’ kicks the kind of ass you’d expect from a collective of experienced musicians who were all experienced who’ve served time with artists like God Damn, Butchery, Angela Parker and Yak in the past.

Evoking the likes of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, there are hints of Pearl Jam about some of the tracks, too, notably opener ‘Sweet Coverage’ and it’s not just the vocals. The French six piece know their hard rock tropes, and know how – and when – to wang in a wild solo, too.

The album cover has a skull motif over the main image, emblazoned with the slogan ‘rock or die’. You’ve been warned. You know what you’re gonna get. And they’re gonna rock regardless of what you chose to do.
