Review: 'LOLA DUTRONIC'
'The Christmas Disco'

-  Label: 'Red Star/Bandcamp.com'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '6th December 2014'

Our Rating:
Yes it's Christmas time again and as much of a Grinch as I am at this time of year I still get to listen to plenty of Christmas music as it's unavoidable and well, this is only the second Christmas tune I've been sent to review this year which. This is a bit of a relief as at least this one is a lot happier about things than the Sharon Corr one I was listening to in September.

This is the first single from Lola Dutronic's next album Lost In Translation that should be out in 2015. LD have their eyes set straight at the heart of the dance floor just before it gets real messy and all the inappropriate sex happens as they sing about the cheesy songs at the Christmas disco. The lyrics are nicely ironic, pointing fingers at some of the traditions and some of the worst Christmas songs that still get everyone dancing while this sounds like Nouvelle Vague crossed with Stereolab but with insistent keyboards and a just banging enough beat to get everyone going and have their hearts filled with joy once more.
