Review: 'Baron Oufo'
'Dar al-Hikma'

-  Album: 'Dar al-Hikma' -  Label: 'Quadrilab'
-  Genre: 'Ambient'

Our Rating:
Vastly expansive sonic nebula swirl spaciously through the 9-minute ‘Depth of the Prophecy’ and it sets the tone for this ambitious album of aural exploration. ‘Dhikir’ rumbles ominously and ‘<>’ adds layers of spiralling matter to dark swathes of sound without clear origin, but these are all mere teasers for the main event.

The 19-minute ‘Blessing and Worship to the Prophet of the Lovely Star’ is one of those pieces that builds and evolves. Drones hang, twisting and tapering in the vortex, solar winds funnel for light years. You are lost, drifting as you marvel at the emptiness, the unconceivable enormity of the infinite. Then… the sound. Vast. Thudding. The voices of the gods, echoing… Behold. You are nothing.
