Review: 'Geins’t Naït + L. Petitgand'
'Je Vous Dis'

-  Album: 'Je Vous Dis' -  Label: 'ici d’ailleurs / Mind Travel Serie'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: 'MT001'

Our Rating:
Delicate piano with a melancholy undertone skips lightly through shards of broken glass crackles and discordant noise currents, while warped loops (‘upstairs… upstairs…’) transform words into meaningless sounds, dislocated and dissociated from any frame of context. Trip-hoppy ‘Iroshima’ is unsettling and alien, the processed elfin vocals prick at the edges of safety and comprehension and drag the listener into a twilight world, while noise carnage erupts over fractured exotica.

Expansive cinematic soundscapes rise and stretch out to distant horizons, beyond which something is always hidden, unseen, unknown and unknowable. Amidst clatters and clanks and a dark grinding hum, a fragments of narrative flickers through.

Neither ambient not industrial, it’s anything but experimental for its own sake, and despite its pan-cultural assimilations, nor is it some postmodern sound collage. No, ‘je vois dis’ taps into an altogether more subconscious human core, through which sound resonates with an impact that’s not readily analysed but is most certainly felt.
