‘Sonnet’ sees Pioulard create scenes in sound using watercolour, pastel and charcoal hues, long, deliberate lines, washes of sound and long, slowing lines with blurred edges. Broad, impressionistic sweeps slowly turn in the air, the changes almost imperceptible, yet definite nevertheless.
There are details; crackling scratches and minute glitches, but they lie beneath rich layers of sonic gauze. Drones gradually swell and thicken with a halo of analogue distortion, enveloping the listener in a blanket of deep, textured sound.
