Review: 'de Picciotto, Danielle'
'Tacoma'

-  Album: 'Tacoma' -  Label: 'Moabit Music'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: 'April 2015'-  Catalogue No: 'MOA019'

Our Rating:
The title track of Danielle de Picciota’s solo debut introduces the album with a bleak seven-minute instrumental piece of dark folk reminiscent of Jarboe-era Swans or the expansive vistas of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. ‘I Have Love’ finds Danielle enunciating haunting whispers over an unsettling thrum of hums, drones, crapes and rumbling thunder. Birdsong flitters through the soaring orchestral tranquillity of ‘Luminous’, a delicate and majestic moment of graceful beauty. Mystical ripples blow through distant lands and de Picciotto demonstrates an outstanding ability to conjure atmospheric sonic tapestries that are transportative and dream-like.
