Review: 'Bretschneider, Frank'
'Sinn + Form'

-  Album: 'Sinn + Form' -  Label: 'Raster Noton'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: 'R-N 157'

Our Rating:
Experimental electronica doesn’t get much more bleepy than this. It’s a concept work that employs a system deigned to explore the contrasts between order and chaos, while at the same time incorporating elements of spontaneous improvisation.

Bloopy widdles, analogue bubbles and static froth, clicks and whooshes, upsides and downslides and spectrum sprays, subsonic toots, wows and slitters skitter in and out and crackles, pops and sparks fly in all directions. Fizzing every which way in the wibbly wobbly sonic fermentation tank, ‘Sinn + Form’ renders the atmosphere electric.

It doesn’t really ‘go’ anywhere, and does at time feel like the sound of someone who’s downed a litre of coffee and their own body weight in sweets before breaking into the studio to fiddle with some new kit, but it’s good fun, if a but much after a while.
