Great record this. It's Laura Bryon on the same label as Cate Le Bon. It's basically Laura strumming along, ably abetted by a couple of stooges playing equally slackly. It is pretty punk in attitude and the personal(ity) of the lyrics only serves to heighten the punk aesthetic.
In fact the lyrics are the standout thing for me. Clever, witty, observant, sarcastic and intelligent and it's not often you get to say that. At times the songs come across like a stripped down Belly and at other times like a surf punk trio and yet the album is a cohesive whole that retains my interest throughout.
The vocals are top notch and are performed with a devil may care Attitude. One can only hope that she retains the edge that is here in abundance and doesn't get caught out trying to do something big, I mean I'll take this over PJ anyday. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
