It's probably an urban myth to say that men think about sex every seven seconds so it would be a safer bet to say that every time Simon M. Read thinks about sex he writes a 'comic' tune about it.
I place the word 'comic' in scare quotes because these songs are not actually all that funny; at least nowhere near as amusing as I'm sure he thinks they are.
After MEN, a mammoth 4-volume, five-hour, 111-song debut album, Quiet Marauder's difficult second album goes to the other extreme with a scanty 11 tracks and a playing time of a measly 32 minutes.
Defining their genre as "anti-folk, lo-fi nonsense", this loose collective from Cardiff are not striving for musical sophistication. They pitch themselves as an updated Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band or a rehashed Half Man Half Biscuit but the laddish humour is lacking in the kind of quotable one-liners this kind of humour-based music needs.

Consequently, the songs don't live up to promising titles like I Won't Let You Become A Waster, Hit Me, Lover, One More Time and Please Don't Let Me Die (In This Small Toilet Cubicle)
It's therefore something of a relief that this was not called 111 Shades of Love.
