Review: 'MEADOWS, CECILIA'
'Cerulean Blue EP'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: 'June 2015'

Our Rating:
Blue is the colour and the mood of this debut 4 track debut EP by a London-based singer song writer from Northern Sweden.

The arrangements are simplicity itself, departing little from acoustic guitar plus voice format.

Perhaps the most obvious extra detail is an insistent drum beat on Sleepless, a song about insomnia which catalogues the sense impressions and melancholy thoughts that keep the singer awake: "Holding on to what I got, though what I got ain't a lot".

Meadows, whose real surname is Engberg, has a good vocal range which she uses to explore the uncertainties that come with new and old relationships.

None of these songs are truly memorable but the warmth and intimacy of the delivery make for a pleasant easy listening experience.
