Cocksure, the collaborative musical vehicle of Chris Connelly and Jason C. Novak, is – more or less – a new reincarnation of Revolting Cocks, and ‘Corporate_Sting’, which promises ‘10 punches to the face, innovative industrial cum punk cum mega-mixx old school Doc Marten stompers, including a cover of a classic 30-year old Severed Heads tune’ definitely has that old RevCo vibe to it (the Severed Heads tune is Harold and Cindy Hospital, from the 1986 LP ‘The Big Bigot).
‘Porno Drones’ is built around a crunching drum track, revisiting the gnarly abrasion of ‘Beers, Steers & Queers’ and gets the album off to a suitably trashy start.
Heavily treated vocals snarl atop gritty synthesised basslines, and everything’s amped up and urgent as spiky electronics stab against mechanical whirrs and a mangled mess of guitars and extraneous maxed-out noise. Spitting anti-corporate venom, callout out corruption, Connelly’s Scots accent is unapologetic. It’s particularly effective on the sneering, snarling semi-spoken ‘Kollider Skope’, a sparse, bleak suburban scene painted with a low-slung bass and trudging beat.

Not as much industrial as postindustrial, ‘OCD Got Game!’ is a relentless barrage of overloading mechanoid drums and grinding synths, reminiscent of pre-Linger Ficken’ Good RevCo.
With so much nasty clashing noise, senseless din and an overtly ‘fuck you’ aesthetic, ‘Corporate_Sting’ is everything it promises, and everything you’d want it to be: not remotely corporate, and with a sting in the tail.
