'Juno Beach'

Our Rating:
This is the third release by Italian duo Snow In Mexico. Its opening track, The Call, sounds like a cross between The Dub Pistols and Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack but with vocals that remind be a bit of Little Fluffy Clouds, so we are in chilled out dance territory.

The title track Juno Beach has a bit of a Pet Shop Boys far away chilled feel to it as if they are barely able to sit up to play and yet come out with this beautiful lush electronic sound with very minimal beats in the background. It's quite dreamy and yes it will ease your pain and help you to just lay back and float off.

Sunshine is dappled with washes of keyboards floating through your mind as the vocals waft by in the background and the minimal beat is just about enough to make you want ululate rather than dance around. This is music to shuffle about to in the chill out room.

The EP finishes with Gentle Rain which as the rain comes down outside in sheets is a bit ironic. But then the keyboards float in and out like a fine drizzle and the song is executed at a slow enough pace to be a fine mist with the most ethereal vocals deep in the background somewhere far away. This is very sophisticated chill out music that would sound perfect as you come down at about 5 in the morning and on its own terms it's rather beautiful too.
