Our Rating:
Following on from 2013’s hospital-themed ‘Wards’ split EP, Dalot and Gavin Miller offer up another joint effort comprising contrasting and complimentary tracks.

Dalot’s ‘Dieue Möbsik’ spirals electronic noodles and spinning aural Catherine wheels around a beat that begins as snaking and vaguely tribal before locking into a metronomic krautrock groove. Half Kraftwerk, half Hawkwind, it’s both compelling and mesmerising.

Miller’s nine-and-a-half-minute ‘In A Narrower Way’ is a dark, haunting piece that builds a sonorous bass throb and features a repetitive motif echo endlessly over a distant but nevertheless nagging beat. It’s not surprising that it calls to mind Gavin’s work with Thomas Ragsdale under the worriedaboutsatan moniker, but, like his co-conspirator’s recently-unveiled solo work it’s different enough, and highlights what each individually brings to the collaboration.

Overall, ‘Blue Moon’ is an intriguing and atmospheric release that’s well worth exploring.
