Review: 'Philip Murray Warson'
'Last of the Hunted'

-  Label: 'Independent'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: 'Out Now'

Our Rating:
Although it has traditions spanning back over decades and generations, the folk genre is still a sandbox that musicians love to play in. Its endless use of acoustic guitar and lilting harmonies are no longer fresh or vital as they perhaps once were, but there's still a lot of beauty to mined from those simple genre tropes.

These days, it takes a skilled writer to truly take a different approach to the genre and make it sound fresh. The chord combinations may have been heard before, and the lyrical ground may have been raked over, but still there's value in going over it all again.

Such is the case with the new two track EP from Philip Murray Warson. At 25 years old, the young man has captured exactly why folk remains a great genre - a rare thing in a folk scene of poor Mumford imitations.
