The Sneaky Nixons describe themselves as ‘an angry, semi-political, semi-religious, part-feminist sloppy activist group who play riotous, steam-train guitar music. They have declared war on electronic dance music, guns, promoters, and non-believers of their Rock-n-Roll terrorism.’
All well and good, and while The Clash vs The Specials punk/reggae crossover of the song itself is kind of ok but largely uninspiring, the video… well, it’s likely to get noticed, but I’m not convinced if that’s a positive.
Despite being vegetarian – or perhaps because I am – the images of meat processing, slaughterhouse production lines, and accelerated footage of decomposition in which a piglet is reduced to soup, skeleton and maggots in mere seconds don’t bother me, because I believe more people should see footage like this. But having listened to the single a fair few times, I can’t really identify the connection between the song and the video.
