Review: 'Mortuary'
'Nothingless Than Nothingness'

-  Album: 'Nothingless Than Nothingness' -  Label: 'Goregeous Productions'
-  Genre: 'Thrash Metal' -  Release Date: '18th January 2016'

Our Rating:
You know what you’re going to get from a band with a name like Mortuary. Do they even need to mention that their field is death metal and thrash metal? Probably not, especially given the album title, and when you see the (slightly iffy) album cover.

All of the standard elements are in place: dirty, dirty guitars hammer away at relentless powerchords, bursting into wall-of-noise assaults with percussion blasting frenetically, the screamed vocals unintelligible and half buried amidst the throbbing blastbeats and thousand-mile-an-hour fretwork. And indeed, standard is the word. With so much dark, nasty death/thrash around, Mortuary are by no means the nastiest, darkest, or more ferocious. ‘Nothingless Than Nothingness’ is a perfectly competent album in its field. However, none of the compositions really stand out from one another, or their peers, and as such, they have nothing to distinguish them.
