The cover unequivocally says we’re in metal territory here. In fact, the cover is awful. Not that I’m going to judge an album purely on the basis of its cover, of course. No, there’s the selection of typefaces and band photo to go on, too. And let’s not forget the song titles: Ark of Deucalion; ‘Psychosis’ ‘Murder Hole’… You get the idea.
Musically, ‘The Dead Stay Dead’ is infinitely better than the cover. Juggernaut riffs are front and centre, with a thunderous rhythm section laying down a really solid bottom end. There are some insane solos, again with the emphasis on impact rather than duration.

There are some moments of vocal melody, but they’re brief and this isn’t pussy emo metal: in fact, it’s full-throttle, heavy duty thrash. What it may lack in originality, it makes up for in brute force, and Huron bring the rage.
