Boy George describes them as very cool and quirky. Tom Robinson is a fan, although he’s a fan of everyone. London electropop duo Ooberfuse have been making a lot of friends while touring hard in the UK and on the mainland.
‘Secret Tattoo’ is a love song. The instrumental backing is simple, and places Cherrie Anderson’s vocal to the fore. She balances sighing and sultry, an airy skip to her tone that avoids being squeaky or shrill: in other words, it’s pleasing to the ear. The song also demonstrates a knack for a hook. The trouble is, there’s not a lot else to it. It’s catchy, but the musical equivalent of candyfloss. Stylish, but the lack of substance wouldn’t even make the Eurovision grade and is as painful as getting a (secret) tattoo. The lyric video really is overkill.
