Is there just one guy who produces all of the artwork for these so-called post-hardcore acts? For as much as they look alike and sound alike, the CD covers are as stereotypical and predictable as, say, thrash, or metal, or, for that matter, chart r’n’b. So, can you judge a book – or a CD – by its cover? To a greater extent, where ‘Vessels’ is concerned, the answer is yes.
The standard musical formulae are followed more or less to the letter: chunky guitars, vocals flicking between throaty shouting and melodic, etc., etc. It’s all there, present and proficiently executed.
