Our Rating:
There is not a lot one can say about this album other than it is wonderful, dream-like pop music.

The Sea Nymphs were the diaphanous foil to their main band Cardiacs' more bludgeoning antics. This was their second album recorded, in the main, at the same time as the first and although it was slated for release shortly after the debut for whatever reason it never saw the light of day.

The secret is out now. Core member Tim Smith was able to supervise additional recording last year and enable this album to become a 'found classic'. For me I would almost file it under baroque pop given its suite-like nature, 15 songs condensed into 35 minutes and it's not easy to pick out individual songs as highlights.

Instead, it's the feel of the piece as a whole that resonates. There is an otherworldly nature to the album and the female vocals are an example of that. Like Kate Bush without the edge. Imagine being in a house by the sea, dozing in a armchair. Through squinted eyes you notice the sliding door to the beach is open and the wind is gently wafting a see through curtain. You are on the dry land but the sea nymphs are calling you.
