Review: 'Storm Harbour'
'Storm Harbour (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '9th December 2016'

Our Rating:
Oh good. Pop-punk. From Stockport. This is clearly what the world needs to get 2017 off to a flying start, to help everyone get over the depressingly awful deluge of turd that was 2016. Three cheers for Storm Harbour!

The band’s website sets out their manifesto: ‘Storm Harbour has been and will continue to steadily define their sound with influences from the likes of Fall Out Boy, The Wonder Years and Jimmy Eat World.’ They’ve pretty much done my job for me: you already know what it sounds like and what I’m going to think of it.

They’ve packed the EP with bouncy, uptempo guitar-driven tunes about relationships, angst, insomnia, relationships, break-ups, self-pity and, er, relationships. You know, the heavyweight stuff that really matters. Ally Bowie has a rather nasal, whiney voice, and the lead guitar parts are irritatingly busy, but the drums are energetic. Aside from that, there really isn’t much to distinguish these guys from countless other bands of their ilk. Not so much storm harbour, as a squally shitshower.
