Review: 'Silent Riders'
'I See You'

-  Label: 'Music For Dreams'
-  Genre: 'Trip-Hop' -  Release Date: '6th January 2017'

Our Rating:
Nothing says mysterious like a band wearing masks. I’m not actually being sarcastic (for a change). Silent Riders don’t give much away about anything, being known only as Lu, Gee and C. The Danish trio’s anti-image draws the focus away from the musicians and places it onto the music. ‘I See You’ is pitched as ‘a brilliant diamond of PJ Harvey-esque vocals, dank and slightly funky drum machine and layers of dark analog ambience’.

It’s certainly moody and atmospheric; the sparse instrumentation, marked by a vintage Roland TR606 snare sound and low-rumbling bass provides the perfect backdrop to the detached and vaguely creepy voyeuristic intimations of Lu’s vocals.

It’s a song which sends shivers, and has that slow-creeping resonance of Portishead when they first emerged. Promising.
