Review: 'KLEWIN, VICTORIA & THE TRUE TONES'
'Dance Me To Heaven'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Blues' -  Release Date: 'October 2016'

Our Rating:
This crowd-funded debut album of 11 original tunes by a seven-piece from Bristol is designed to transport us on a nostalgia trip into the world of jazz, soul and blues.

Victoria Klewin scats and sings of being helplessly in love and devoted to her man but, in less happy times, she is a woman wronged, confused or embittered.

All of this should take the listener on a roller coaster of conflicting emotions but although Klewin has a well trained voice, the X-factor of sass and soul is sorely missing.

The brass and bass backing is merely efficient and this, together with the flat production, adds to the impression that the tunes amount to little more than exercises in style over substance.
