39 or so years and 16 albums. Could 2017 and 'Hear The Lions Roar' finally make this band as big as they should be? It's highly unlikely but based on the evidence provided by this brilliant album perhaps the notion is not so far-fetched?
It's all here folks: the love songs, the monster songs, the brilliant, idiosyncratic song writing and vocal style of Jad Fair and the ludicrously ramshackle yet somehow mind-numbingly tight sound so effortlessly put together by the band.
You might even say this is the best pop album you will hear all year. Aren't they supposed to be an art punk band? I think art pop band is far more accurate. It might just be the best album of the year already and you never know, it might even be the best Half Japanese album this year.
