Review: 'Nyree'
'Brighter Shade of Love'

-  Genre: 'Soul' -  Release Date: '17th November 2017'

Our Rating:
Newcomer Nyree has nicknamed her debut album ‘International Girl’, her ‘tapas’ album - perceived perhaps as small appetisers infused with essences of different musical tastes and cultures. Born in the UK to Armenian parents and widely travelled, Nyree has a strong sense of other cultures and she speaks several languages. Her name reflects her roots - ‘Nyree’ is the ancient name for Armenia.

While the album’s not out till January, single cut ‘Brighter Shade of Love’ serves as a taster, and it’s a sultry, soulful smoocher with some laid-back jazzy vibes. Adjectives like ‘cool’ and ‘smooth’ may be cliché, but are entirely apposite when describing the track’s classic vibe.
It may be more background than foreground, but this is a song for late nights with the lights low, a glass of wine and reclining into a big, soft, comfy chair.
