Review: 'JAGUWAR'
'Ringthing'

-  Label: 'Tapete'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '12 January 2018'

Our Rating:
Tapete Records make it a good start to the year in the land of indie with this debut album by Jaguwar.

Initially they sent a demo to Tapete asking to support The Telescopes on tour, which tells you something sure enough. This is wall of sound, shoegaze and a large third of pop, which all together makes for perfect indie confection.

When the male vocals are used there is even a bit of post-punk thrown in. They sound like a confident band with plenty of flexibility and this comes through in the song arrangements. What may initially come across as a 'traditional' pop song may suddenly veer off in another direction and end up some place else.

Most tracks come in at around the five or six minute mark. I can hear echoes of The Cure, Slowdive and Ride and maybe even My Bloody Valentine at some points. With such an early release I really hope it doesn't get lost when it comes to end of year lists and hopefully a UK tour sometime will keep the ball rolling. I won't bore you with individual song details, you need to find those out for yourself.
