Review: 'NO AGE'
'Snares Like A Haircut'

-  Label: 'Drag City'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '26th January 2018'

Our Rating:
I think this pair might have done a few albums but this is the first in a while and the time taken was worth it.

These tracks are primed to burst forth from your speakers and really not leave you with much left from the shoulders up. The snare is indeed like a haircut and the accompanying noise cacophonous and tinnitus inducing. On top of this are smart, sharp, post-punky vocals running hard to catch up. Kind of sits quite well with the Jaguwar (Ringthing) album released during the previous week.

Looks like Drag City and Tapete have got this stuff sewn up. You would be hard pushed to get a better salvo of opening tracks than what No Age have presented us with here. "Snares Like A Haircut" breaks that up with some sort of tape effect loop song which is probably a good idea and then "Tidal goes even harder and faster than before. The second half of the album follows a similar pattern with "Third Grave Rave" fulfilling instrumental obligations nicely.

If I was being beastly I would have dropped the final two tracks to create something really snappy but all in all it's a pleasurable listen.
