Why are these guys not one of the biggest cult acts around already? Yes, they’re exponents of quintessentially 90s indie in a second-decade-of-the-post-millennium-musical world, but everything’s retro nowadays and Piskie Sits are GOOD.
‘Arm Hurter’ combines a dancefloor-friendly groove with an insistent beat with a nagging guitar, along with hints of the popper end of The Fall (not least of all their cover of ‘Lost in Music’, which is likely no coincidence) and Pavement. Yes, it’s got 90s US alt-rock all over it, and that’s no bad thing. It’s also a belting tune with a hooky-as-hell chorus. Indie kids, alt-rock fans: you need this band.
