Review: 'LOYAL BROTHERS'
'Loyal Brothers'

-  Label: 'Epictronic'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '1st June 2018'

Our Rating:
Do we need another Depeche Mode? Almost certainly not, in my view, but the Loyal Brothers are determined to prove otherwise.

They are a three-piece synth pop band from the same neck of the woods with more than a passing resemblance to Basildon's most famous sons.

The Loyal Brothers from Essex are not siblings but formed in 2013 and their other influences include Kasabian, The Rolling Stones, Editors, INXS and Interpol.

Are you excited yet? No, me neither.

This debut album was recorded at Realsound studios in Langhirano, Italy, produced by Wahoomi Corvi and then mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by Frank Arkwright.

Song writer Dean M Oldfield sings of danger, desire and sin and, in Ghost Man, claims "my soul burns in a raging blaze" but none of it rings true.

The anti-fascist message of Backlash is a point in their favor but the rest sounds like a rehash of other bands with nothing that sets them apart from their heroes.
