Andreas Spechtl's 2017 album "Thinking About Tomorrow, And How To Build It" was an intriguing and pleasurable listen and "Strategies" continues in the same vein. Mr. Spechtl seems to build very organic musical 'forms' which go where the musical muse takes him and then the vocals follow along these paths, often effected but not distorted so they have clarity and form an equal part of the tracks.
"Openings" is quite jazzy in a David Sylvian type way and is followed by the more techno driven "The Separate". An influence that was quite apparent on "TATAHTBI". "Hot Hell" could be about the near future Planet Earth (?) and acts as a scene setter for "Pretty Views".
Lots of synth on this album, generated by a modular system and two synthesisers. Very analogue,very Bureau B and saxophone in the mix somehow as well. The track speaks of how our time will be filled with barbarism. Again, it may be a reflection on what is to come.

"The Time (The Money)" has a dreamlike quality, it's a real drifter. "When We Were Young" keeps that quality flowing and then ends up sounding like a not quite together open jam session. The album finishes with the fifteen minute "Structures" which is an entirely immersive piece. Something that Spechtl seems able to do on a consistent basis.
