Our Rating:
Some of you will be familiar with Jeremy D'Antonio as a member of Phil Lesh's Terrapin Crossroads or who helped record String Cheese Incident in the studio, as well as being in Tiny Television or San Geronimo or you could be like me and be new to his music. This clear vinyl 12" Single was recorded with several members of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard's bands and that sort of pedigree will give you an idea of where this EP is coming from that's mixed by Malcolm Burn.

The Ep opens with Sad And Blue, that is exactly that, an old school country heartbreaker with some very nice slide guitar, this would have sounded good played at The Grand Ole Opry and has a bit of the International Submarine band about it.

The one cover on the Ep is both a heartfelt tribute to the songs writer John Prine and a damn fine cover of Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness that's as full of longing and regret as it should be.

The B-side opens with Spinnin' Wheels a slow dark and blue country song that although it's a new song sounds and feels like a song I've been hearing since the 1970's, while I wonder if they are off in search of Nessie when they go off on a trip to Inverness or do they just want a few pints of 80/ shilling, although they are probably going to a different Inverness, as we marvel at the wondrously plangent guitar sound.

Heaven Knows is a hard scrabble tale of country despair and heartbreak. The Ep closes with Crawlin' Out Of My Skin that almost feels like a cold turkey story, only it's about missing the one he loved, this is a slow mordant old time downbeat sippin' whiskey on the porch listening to that piano country heart breaker.
