Hans Joachim Roedelius, co-founder of Cluster and Harmonia, met saxophonist Alexander Czjzek for the first time in Vienna in the early 1980s. A fruitful musical collaboration ensued which combines Krautrock, electronic, jazz and ambient genres.
This album, originally released in 1987, comprises eight drifting instrumental pieces lasting just under 40 minutes. This allows sufficient time to get into the right headspace required for full enjoyment.
Don’t expect any hummable tunes or breaking beats; what you get is some elegant piano pieces that combine harmoniously with Czjzek’s soothing saxophone improvisations. The title track, at 12:22, is the longest piece although the album is best consumed as an organic whole as it blends together so seamlessly.
