I think it’s broadly accepted that we’re all going to hell in a boat. Certainly, this trio from Leeds (UK) are not inclined to disagree.
On All At Sea , the opening song we are reminded: “ Don’t believe that fantasies will solve this situation /‘Cause there’s no way to sail away from the ocean on which we’re sailing.”
For reasons that are not entirely clear, they are named after the 1960s / 1970s charity fundraising scheme Sunny Smiles where detachable photos of unfortunate toddlers were traded for petty cash. I’m assuming the name is ironic since their debut album is not full of the bouncy pop the name might suggest. On the CD booklet, the three men are pictured in a hairdressing salon and woman’s bedroom looking like undercover cops.

Their debut album, produced by Neil Ferguson and Will Jackson is not maudlin or depressing but it’s not exactly cheery either.
The 12 tracks are more like songs for a rainy day, trying to put a brave face on things. If you’re lucky you might see an occasional rainbow.
Publicity agents call their sound ”Vaguely acoustic music for the vaguely thinking person.”
