This is the latest single from Rodney Cromwell's latest album Memory Box and it's a 5 track maxi single featuring 4 versions of Opus Three Rodney's love letter to the Moog Opus Three synthesizer and a bonus tune Perception Management.
The first version of Opus Three is the Roman Angelos' Extended Dance Mix, it does what it say on the tin, takes us to the dancefloor with a good techno beat, a bit of a happy house feel to it, this will sound great on a dancefloor, as the slinky synth come through and even the sparser moments never give up on that beat to keep you moving and grooving to it. While wondering what the catastrophe the barely their vocals are going on about is.
The second version of Opus Three is the Circuit 3 mix that has slowed things down to a more doom-laden goth club feel, with all sorts of weird gated sounds whooshing in and out as the vocals are clearer on this mix alongside some talking robot out of a late 70's sci-fi movie about the 2020's that knows there will be a catastrophe just not what kind. This would sound great at the Korova Milk Bar.
The third version of Opus Three is the Field Glass mix that feels more space age organic chill out with a Stylophone modular sound this is really floaty and slow and gloriously beautiful and totally sans vocals.
The fourth version of Opus Three is the standard album version and after the floaty Field Glass mix, is a real jolt in the arm to get you back up dancing.
The ep closes with the soundtrack to the end of the world as we knew it, Perception Management a term that's key to understanding the new post pandemic, totally computerized world, we are emerging into, as the synths float off and you can start to figure out how to manage your own perception of our world.
