Review: 'Dorau, Andreas'
'Ich Bin Der Eine Von Uns Beiden'

-  Label: 'Tapete Records'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '3.6.22.'

Our Rating:
This is a re-mastered re-issue for Andreas Dorau's 2005 album Ich Bin Der Eine Von Uns Beiden that was originally on Mute. Apparently this was originally a concept album about wild boar that took 8 years to make, this new version has re-arranged the running order.

For the album Andreas Und Dorau are joined by Wolfgang Muller, Justus Kohncke, Erobique und Paul Kominek. Obviously I am guessing at any lyrical content as My German is limited.

The album opens with IM September that has squelchy cartoon keyboards and a thumping club beat with glacial female vocals attempting to do for September what Pilot did for January, this is autumnal dance pop.

Hinterhaus sounds like a 1970's tv theme reworked with a techno dance pop beat to great effect, the chanted lyrics have a good repetitive chant along aspect to them, never mind I have no clue what they are singing about, other than the press release telling me it's about people coming out of the back door of a house.

Schwarze Furchen is a wild love song for a rather comely Black Boar they've met in Berlin at I'm guessing a rather dark club, although as the title means Black Furrow it could easily be about being depressed.

Kein Liebeslied has a europop feel to it, even if the tune they are re-imagining is OMD's Enola Gay, this song isn't about dropping Nuclear Bombs but according to the songs video it's about curling, as they add some Indian sounding instrumentation.

Die Besondere is a funky dancefloor techno pop tune to get down and not get caught out by the mad string intervention, just keep on dancing.

Heut Kommt Er has lots of surface crackles from whatever vinyl record they are sampling on this almost chamber pop song, that's almost a bit Belle And Sebastian when it gets all shimmery.

Wir Sind Keine Freunde is a Pet Shop Boys style synth pop banger with a house style beat that does it's best to try to hide the fact they've stolen the tune from Last Christmas and sped it up a bit and made it more dancey.

40 Frauen reworks The Girl From Ipanema into a dancefloor kraut pop sensation with close up vocals and some great harmonica.

Zwei Hand Im Sand has a dancefloor build with weird synths for the middle of the night. Du Bist Nicht Wie Die Anderen is a slow synth pop ballad with some beer hall piano and synths.

Di Klette has pulsating synths that might make you dance robotically at the sci-fi edges to the sound of this song.

Du Gehst Fremd is lush acoustic pop with synth edges to it that swirls and swells and feel like its gently caressing your soul.
