Our Rating:
Oog Bogo might be one of the worst band names I've seen in ages, but they are in no way the worst band I've heard in a similar period of time, this album produced by Ty Segall is a garage fuzz rock thrill ride. The album is out now on Vinyl or Cassette. Oog Bogo are Shelby Jacobson and Kevin Boog.

The album opens with the fizzing garage rock of Goon that sounds like it's ready to be played at a sleazy rock show as soon as, this has a very early 80's fuzz rock sound to it with angular stutter riff and monotonal vocals.

Culprit doesn't vary much from Goon, but in the way that bands making this sort of Fuzz rock should be, this adds some weird synth/theremin style noises as they sound like they have smoked a couple of bags of weed before playing anything, as they are trying to decide if they should take some acid too as the guitars get more fried.

Cuckoo sounds like an obscure late 70's punk nugget that's in love with Wipers and Gang Of Four while they play along to a metronome.

Plastic is the fuzzy son of the Happy Mondays Plastic Face Can't Smile White Out with almost as much drugged out effects and spiraling guitars.

New State is a little sparser making it more like early Wire, this has an almost police siren style keyboard part as the urgent staccato vocals tells us all about this New State they are now in.

A Side has an off key 60's psyche oddball rarity type feel to it, the sort of tune that gets unearthed and a bunch of 60's nerds go nuts for it, while normal music fans wonder what they are going on about, but want to take the same drugs the nerds have taken, so they can get the full effects of the tune.

Canary won't be the new chant at Norwich football games next season, but it has that Gang Of Four, Wire brevity and intensity going on, with vocals that are probably really meaningful if you can figure them out, either way they can't do a thing without that Canary.

Interstate feels like a song by Armand Schaubroeck Steals, but with sweeter less confrontational lyrics. As they fly down that Interstate like speed cameras don't exist.

Paint is all down tuned slow and careful as they try to dodge all the paint scattered in the street, like they are living in a Jackson Pollock world rather than a Trump or Biden world, let's face it America would be a better place if someone like Jackson was in charge.

So Well is the longest song on the album at over 5 minutes long and feels a bit episodic as they sing about goings on at the undertakers.

The album closes with the freak out that is Idle that has the clearest backing vocals on the album and some really freaky guitars covered as always in mountains of fuzz.
